Description
Our Isabella planter is named for Dr. Isabella Abbott (June 20, 1919 October 28, 2010), an ethnobotanist from Hawaii whose work focused on marine algae research. Dr. Abbott broke a variety of barriers throughout her prolific career she’s thought to be the first native Hawaiian to earn a PhD in science, and she was the first person of color and the first female biology professor at Stanford University. Much of her research relied on collecting knowledge from native elders, which was unusual for university-level study.
The Isabella comes in a variety of bright, tropical colors. Each piece is handmade of food-grade porcelain and includes a drainage hole and matching water saucer.
